Output filters for motor drives

Tuesday, 03 February, 2009 | Supplied by: Westek Electronics Pty Ltd

The Schaffner 510 series output filters reduce voltage slew rate (dV/dt) from inverter drives for variable-speed motors. High-voltage slew rates can cause overstressing of long motor drive cables and cause insulation breakdowns in motor windings.

The filters are suitable for servo drives, closed loop vector drives and robotic applications, and generally for both long and short drive cable set-ups. They have low output impedance and low losses and are therefore suited to fast and accurate dynamic changes typical of servo operations.

The eight models in the series range from 1.5 to 30 kW (4 to 66 A) and feature protection against overload by a fan and internal temperature monitoring, IP20-rated housing and touch-safe terminals.
