The Acuro family of encoders, made by Hengstler, has been expanded with the addition of the AC58-I - an encoder that can be used both for positioning and feedback applications.

In many drive and positioning applications, electric motors are frequently used with an incremental encoder to assume the feedback and an absolute encoder to assume the rotor positioning. Until now, two encoders had to be integrated in order to attain the desired output signals, which increased the overall system cost and narrowed the constructive design. The AC58-I’s incremental and absolute encoder signals are combined together in one enclosure to overcome these constrictions and thereby reduce installation time with one connecting cable.

Benefits of the encoder include its wide temperature range of -40 to 100°C and reverse compatibility with all common types of frequency converters, with square-wave TTL or HTL signals available.

It has a claimed high-system accuracy, with a resolution of up to 29 bit and up to 2048 increments, high electromagnetic compatibility up to 2 kV and non-susceptibility to magnetic interference with fully optical scanning.
