The CMS Electric Cylinder series of electric servomotor-driven actuating cylinders presents an alternative to pneumatic and hydraulic actuating cylinders, providing accurate linear positioning for single-plane motion applications.
Comprising four different models, the series features a synchronous servo-motor with integrated ball-screw drive to generate linear motion, delivering a peak feed force of 20,000 N at a maximum speed of 500 mm/s. With a stroke length of up to 350 mm, the devices are suited to applications where short, accurate linear strokes are required, such as those involving a pushing, clamping or pressing action.
Claimed advantages over pneumatic and hydraulic actuating cylinders include precise piston positioning, steady acceleration and speed profiles, scalable feed force capabilities and reduced installation and maintenance costs.
Piston position and frequency of movement can be programmed and controlled via a servomotor controller. This allows users to define motion sequences and adjust performance parameters electrically, rather than interrupting the application - a common requirement with standard hydraulic or pneumatic actuating cylinders.
Options available include electric holding brake, ‘absolute’ feedback system configurations and mounting and spindle pitch alternatives.
