Toshiba laptop power supply recall

Thursday, 27 November, 2014

The ACCC advises that some Toshiba notebook computers sold in Australia and New Zealand between September 2010 and June 2012 were shipped with LS-15-branded AC power cords. The location of the ‘LS-15’ marking is on the portion of the cord that plugs into the AC adapter. Not all Toshiba PCs were sold with the affected AC power cord.

In some instances the LS-15-labelled connector’s electrical insulation may degrade over time with the potential to overheat and burn. Consumers are advised to stop using the cord immediately and unplug it from the socket. Toshiba requests consumers visit the Toshiba support site to check if their product is affected. PC model and serial numbers are required and consumers will be asked to register for a replacement.
