nomos system announces advanced interoperability for IoT

Tuesday, 16 February, 2016

nomos system AG has announced an advance in interoperability for the Internet of Things (IoT). As more and more apps, proprietary ecosystems and alliances rush towards providing intelligent building automation solutions, nomos has created a software engine capable of connecting devices in all environments and creating universal interoperability, regardless of standards or protocols.

The company says that the universal ‘IoT’ term really defines only single intelligent components which independently exchange data directly via the internet and suggest this means in reality that users are working with three, four and five individual ecosystems, rather than just one.

By increasing broad compatibility, the nomos operating system (nOS) and Intel technology, individual systems (such as Samsung SmartThings) can communicate with building automation protocols including KNX. A gateway between the two serves as a universal abstraction layer and, as one of the few systems on the market, nmos owns a direct communication into KNX and other software stacks.

nOS generates access via the nomos Cloud API (REST & Realtime) to all of the automatically discovered KNX objects in a project, exchanging them with the SmartThings app and providing bidirectional communication.

Within the SmartThings service, My SmartApps, all elements become available to be controlled and monitored, even if they were previously incompatible. nOS converts all protocols to provide easy access for any ecosystem and unites them for a seamless user experience. With nOS installed on Intel’s IoT gateways, users can collect, control and feed data to any front-end.
