The WIMA SuperCap double-layer capacitors are now available as cascaded and balanced modules with capacitances up to 200 F or with nominal voltages up to 28 VDC, for use in applications such as slip control of large wind power plants, starting micro-turbines, fuel cell start-up, starting large V16 or V24 cylinder motors in train or naval drives, energy storage in conjunction with photovoltaic devices, recuperation of braking energy for automobiles and parallel connection to batteries in vehicles or other applications.

The modules feature the instant availability of up to 1000 A, more than 500,000 charge/discharge cycles, greater than 90% efficiency and a claimed service life of more than 10 years when properly treated.

In comparison with other energy-storage solutions, these modules offer maintenance-free operation, longer life expectancy and comparatively lower weight.
