Vivid Sydney is back, bigger than ever
The annual Vivid Sydney festival is back on this year, bigger and better than ever. Billed as “the world’s largest festival of light, music and ideas”, the event runs for 23 days (26 May to 17 June 2017) and will transform the harbour city with its colourful creative canvas. Last year’s Vivid Sydney attracted a record 2.31 million attendees, and hopes are for more this year.
Vivid Sydney features large-scale light installations and projections (Vivid Light); music performances and collaborations (Vivid Music including Vivid LIVE at the Sydney Opera House); and creative ideas, discussion and debate (Vivid Ideas), all celebrating Sydney as the creative hub of the Asia–Pacific.
Festival favourites including lighting the Opera House sails and the Harbour Bridge along with other buildings on the harbour foreshore will be back, as will festival outposts at Darling Harbour, Martin Place, Taronga Zoo and Chatswood.
Last year’s feature in the Royal Botanic Garden will be expanded and, for the first time, the newly developed Barangaroo precinct will be included.
If you are planning on attending the sparc-FMA International Lighting and Facilities event, you can take in the sights and sounds of Vivid Sydney as well.
