Top West Australian electricians recognised

The best of Western Australia’s talented and committed workers in the electrotechnology industry were recognised at the annual Excellence Awards hosted by peak industry body NECA.

The General Manager of NECA’s West Australian chapter, Kyle Kutasi, said: “The winning companies were chosen because of their commitment to excellence, significant engineering achievements and importantly, finishing the complex jobs on time and in budget. The projects that the winning companies completed were just phenomenal.

“As the electrotechnology industry continues to grow and tackle new technological challenges, it is encouraging to see that West Australian electrical and communication contractors are leading the country in everything from occupational health and safety through to energy efficiency and the wiring of smart homes.”

The winners were:

  • Domestic Residence category - Leon Best Electrical for private residence in Peppermint Grove;
  • Small Contracting Business category - Leon Best Electrical;
  • Environment and Energy Efficiency category - Metrowest Electrical & Communications for 2029 Vision External Feature Lighting Council House;
  • Occupational Health and Safety category - Southern Cross Electrical Engineering for Pluto LNG Project – Onshore Electrical & Instrumentation Works;
  • Industrial Project category - Downer EDI Engineering Power for Boddington Gold Mine Expansion - Wet Area;
  • Voice/Data - Small Project category - Electek Electrical Contractors for Inpex Browse;
  • Voice/Data - Large Project category - KLM Group for National Australia Bank Headquarters, Perth;
  • Commercial - Small Project category - Metrowest Electrical & Communications for 2029 Vision External Feature Lighting Council House;
  • Commercial - Medium Project category - KLM Group for Apache Head Office, Perth; and
  • Western Power Safety Achievement Award - Alliance Systems Electrical.
