Three electrical apprentices that demonstrated consistent levels of excellence throughout their training were recognised by the National Electrical and Communications Association (NECA) at the annual NSW Apprentice of the Year Awards on Friday 7 September.

Nick Mundey, employed by Eris McCarthy, was judged best apprentice in the Commercial/Domestic category. Yeol Meinrath, employed by NECA Group Training and host employer R W Palmer Electrical Service, took out the award for best apprentice in the Communications category. The final gong went to Rick McNeice, also employed by NECA Group Traning and host employer Bass Electrical Engineering, for best apprentice in Industrial.

According to NECA NSW Executive Director Oliver Judd, “The judges compared academic achievements and on-the-job accomplishments from all of the submissions and decided these three are the best-performing apprentices in NSW.’ He added, “It’s important to remember it’s not only the apprentices and training institutions working to build skills in our industry. Without the assistance of the business community, apprentices would not get the on-the-job training that is so important for the future of our electrical and communications industry.’
