Smart grid experts to convene in Perth

The first IEEE PES conference on Innovative Smart Grid Technologies (ISGT) Asia will be held in Perth from 13-16 November 2011. ISGT is the IEEE’s flagship conference series on smart grid.

ISGT Asia 2011 will be a forum for the participants to discuss state-of-the-art innovations in smart grid technologies. The conference will feature special sessions, tutorials, roundtable discussions and keynote presentations by international experts on smart grid developments and applications. Attendees will also have the opportunity to network with the IEEE PES executive committee members. The Australian Power Institute (API) will host a CEO’s forum on behalf of the power utilities in Australia to outline their visions around smart grid rollout and implementations. Other national bodies such as the Sustainable Energy Association (SEA) and Smart Grid Australia (SGA) will also hold roundtable discussion sessions. The IEEE PES will sponsor plain talk tutorials on smart grid.

The primary objective of the conference is to provide a high-quality research and professional forum for the advancement of science, technology and professional networking in the field of smart grid. The conference aims to bring academia, industry, technology providers, consultants and government officials together for peer group interactions. The conference is supported by Curtin University, Western Power, Parsons Brinckerhoff, Smart Grid Australia, CSIRO, General Electric, Cooperative Research Centre for Integrated Engineering Asset Management, Operation Technologies Incorporated and others.
