Smart buildings a hot topic at Total Facilities 2016

The Total Facilities conference and exhibition will showcase the latest solutions for facilities management with a particular focus on smart buildings and building automation, alongside technologies and software that improve data communications, lighting, infrastructure and energy efficiency.

An industry exhibition for facilities and workplace professionals, to be held in Melbourne from 6–7 April, Total Facilities will also be offering a free education program running concurrently over the event’s two days.

The Seminar Theatre will present industry speakers discussing trends, disruptive technologies and practical solutions that will help provide the skills and ideas that today’s professionals need to prepare for facilities and workplaces of the future.

Rowan Peck from Mission Critical Systems, who plans, designs and implements new builds and refurbishments for critical facilities, will present case studies in live power upgrades, while Larry Spielvogel, independent consulting engineer, who chaired the ANSI/ASHRAE/IESNA Standard 90.1 Project Committee, which is the basis for most building energy codes and green buildings, will provide a seminar on ‘Green buildings waste energy efficiently’. Spielvogel will discuss how metered energy data from these buildings often shows that most do not perform any better than other comparable new buildings.

Other notable speakers include:

  • Preeti Bajaj, VP Strategy and Transformation at Schneider Electric, who will discuss smart buildings and how they affect the role of FM.
  • Rodney Timm, Director of Property Beyond, who will cover the topic of managing facilities in the age of the Internet of Things (IoT).
  • Jeremy Sampson, Engineering Manager at Crown Melbourne, who will share insights on optimising maintenance using big data.

The exhibition is expected to connect around 160 suppliers with over 2500 visitors. To view the full seminar program, click here.
