SEW-Eurodrive opens new facility in Perth
SEW-Eurodrive has opened a new sales and service centre in the industrial suburb of Welshpool in Perth, Western Australia. The new premises is manned by a team of qualified engineers and experienced technical staff. Featuring on-site assembly, service and training facilities, the centre also provides industry with access to the company’s range of motor and drive technologies, expertise and spares.
According to SEW-Eurodrive WA State Manager Trevor Hughes, the new facility is four times the size of the company’s previous premises and has been purpose-designed to accommodate the assembly and repair of larger-sized complete drive packages. “This 2300 m2 site features 800 m2 of electrical and mechanical workshops.
“In addition to five- and 16-tonne overhead gantry cranes, we also have a two-tonne jib crane. This heavy-lifting capability - plus the additional workshop space - will facilitate the assembly and repair of larger size drive assemblies.
“This extended capacity will enhance our ability to support heavy industry - especially the mining industry. This is the largest drive-systems assembly and repair facility in the area and features capacity to hold over $1 million of stock. This will enable us to provide a broader level of service and a quicker turnaround.”
SEW-Eurodrive has also sought to improve its environmental performance with the new building, which has been designed with energy savings in mind - featuring special construction for thermal resistance and a wall facade system designed to maximise the use of natural light. The new centre will help reduce SEW-Eurodrive’s own carbon footprint as it helps end users of its drives solutions to reduce theirs.
