Schneider Electric has won the ‘Innovative Product of the Year’ category at this year’s Master Electricians Australia Awards for Excellence for its Compact NSX circuit breakers.

The judges were impressed with the energy-efficiency features of the product, a feat achieved after 170 engineers contributed to the research and development.

Master Electricians Australia CEO Malcolm Richards said Schneider Electric’s new series of circuit breakers was an important innovation for the industry: “This category showcases the companies working to advance our industry, and the work we do and this particular product will have great benefits.

“This new range of circuit breakers will enable energy-efficiency benefits and can be retrofitted to move older constructions into the new age of electrical work.

“This product really impressed us and, after so many years of research and development, we can now see the immediate benefits that it will provide the industry. It’s great to see the larger companies like Schneider Electric dedicating resources to innovation projects.”

The ‘innovative product’ category was designed to highlight products that significantly contribute to the safety, efficiency and advancement of the electrotechnology industry.

The breakers cover a range from 40 to 630 A and provide both remote and local control as well as an output information stream providing current, voltage, frequency, power factor, energy, total harmonic distortion and a number of diagnostic facilities. A key feature is that it provides a report on the thickness of the mating contacts and their replacement needs.
