Qld switchgear company nets Exporter of the Year award

Brisbane switchgear company NOJA Power has been recognised as Queensland Exporter of the Year at the Premier of Queensland’s Export Awards 2024.

The company was a finalist in three categories, winning in the Sustainability and Green Economy category and netting the overall Exporter of the Year award.

With its headquarters and manufacturing campus in Murarrie, and distribution centre in Morningside on the Queensland Trade Coast, NOJA Power employs over 350 staff.

Its in-house research and development team has produced Australian intellectual property in electrical switchgear, which is used to control the electricity distribution grid.

Driven by its mission to produce environmentally sustainable switchgear design, NOJA Power has developed new methods for building a form of switchgear that relies on non-toxic materials instead of defunct industry-standard materials such as sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) — a highly potent greenhouse gas.

NOJA Power said the sustainability of its switchgear aligns with the environmental goals of electricity distribution utilities and renewable energy generators, while remaining price-competitive with legacy competitor technologies.

Proximity to the Port of Brisbane is a strategic decision for NOJA Power, as 88% of revenue for the group is derived from export sales. The company’s products are used by electricity distribution utilities in 106 countries worldwide.
