NECA welcomes new National President
Stephen Griffiths was recently elected by NECA members for the 2010/2011 year to replace the former NECA President, John Robinson, who held the position for two years.
Griffiths, owner of an electrical contracting company in Sydney and a member of NECA for 17 years, is the current President of NECA New South Wales and has been an active state board member for several years.
The National President comes to the role at an interesting time in politics. The agendas of the National Broadband Network and national licensing are just two of the extensive challenges facing the electrical and communications industry.
During his welcome, Griffiths paid tribute to his predecessor: “John Robinson came into the role at a time of great change for NECA and has been a steady influence during the significant growth of national operations, and this was important for the development of our industry.
“In taking up the new position, I understand the issues facing electrical and communications contractors and I am keen to provide leadership to help advance the industry.
“I can empathise with business owners because I run a business myself. This is one of the key factors why NECA is such an effective national peak organisation, because it is run by contractors for contractors.”
Greg Kempton, who manages an electrical contracting company in Canberra, has been elected to the National Vice President role.
