NECA Excellence Award winners for ACT announced
Winners of the National Electrical and Communications Association (NECA) annual electrical industry Excellence Awards and Apprentice of the Year Awards for the ACT were announced on Friday.
Six companies were awarded for their commitment to excellence, significant engineering achievements and finishing complex jobs on schedule.
“The electrical and communications contracting firms that have won an award are simply outstanding for what they have achieved during each project,” said NECA ACT Executive Director Oliver Judd. “The judging panel were privileged to view such high-quality projects and, as always, NECA members have played a critical role in some of the largest and most diverse construction jobs in the state.”
Shepherd Electrical took out the Energy Efficiency and Environment and Commercial - Large Project categories for its Compass House and Majura Park Shopping Centre Projects respectively. Stowe Australia won the Commercial - Small Project and Commercial - Medium Project categories for its Jones Lang LaSalle and Lockheed Martin projects.
Other winners included: Brilliant Electrical, taking out the Domestic Residence category for its 12 Walangara St, O’Malley project; Casper Electrics, for its Canberra shopping centres projects; O’Donnell Griffin, for the Queanbeyan Capacitor Bank project; and KLM Group, for the Australian Federal Police - Audio Visual Systems projects.
John Evans and James Stone were officially recognised as the top ACT apprentices of the year. Evans was named ACT Apprentice of the Year in the Commercial/Domestic category; Stone took out the Industrial category.
The two apprentices will now progress to the national NECA Apprentice of the Year Awards in November.
