Apex Wiring Solutions has opened its first Australian office in Melbourne. The company says the investment is a result of growing demand for preassembled modular power and lighting systems around the world.

IBISWorld’s Electrical Services market research report estimated the market for electrical services in Australia in the multiple billions of dollars; Apex Wiring Solutions expects its Australian business will generate AU$11.25 billion in 2011-12. Revenue is predicted to grow by an annualised 2.3%.

The company says modular wiring technologies are gaining popularity in Australia, as mechanical and electrical specifiers are recognising the benefits of the modular approach with the adoption of some forms of pluggable system. Modular systems offer a high degree of flexibility and versatility for both installers and end users, Apex said, and can reduce on-site installation times by up to 70%.

Simon Waldren, Managing Director of Apex Wiring Solutions Australia, said opening the new Melbourne office is an important strategic investment.

He said the electrical wiring and accessories sector is evolving to meet the challenges placed on it by the introduction of new technologies, the availability of affordable skilled labour and the latest methods of construction such as off-site prefabrication.

“Now, during the economic challenges we face here in Australia, there is more pressure than ever before on everybody to deliver projects on time and within budget, while still achieving cost savings in the process wherever possible,” Waldren said.

“This is where the preassembled modular approach can provide benefits, significantly improving quality while delivering cost- and time-saving benefits.”
