Melbourne to host lighting summit
The Australian Smart Lighting Summit will be held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre on 5 and 6 August 2013. The event, supported by City of Melbourne, is expected to attract in the region of 200 senior-level lighting designers, architects, engineers, urban developers, sustainability experts and lighting technology manufacturers from the public and private sector eager to discuss strategies and best practices for sustainable lighting.
The event is a platform for key stakeholders to discuss strategies to improve energy efficiency and learn from the experience of industry-recognised thought leaders who will communicate the opportunities in smart lighting, present case studies where new technology has been implemented and propose ideas to revolutionise Australia’s lighting industry.
Key topics that will be addressed at the summit include: sustainable lighting design and quality installations; street lighting; public realm and outdoor lighting applications; addressing lighting standards; certification and regulations; the future of LEDs; identifying and addressing the barriers to the uptake of more efficient lighting; upcoming lighting projects and strategies by municipalities and developers; encouraging the production of energy-efficient lighting technology; and designing with daylight.
