MEA launches new membership category

Master Electricians Australia (MEA) has launched a new category of membership that offers nationwide industry support to contractors and businesses within the electrical and wider sectors.

MEA Chief Executive Malcolm Richards said it is apparent that businesses require not only support and advice, but urgently need a voice of representation.

“After five years as a national accreditation scheme, it has become apparent that there is bureaucratic red tape plaguing aspects of our industry that are specific to each state,” Richards said. “Master Electricians has established state managers in New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland and Western Australia to aid the industry in much-needed lobbying and representations to government.

“We understand that not everyone can be an expert on contract law, industrial law and tax arrangements and still keep abreast of electrical regulations, not to mention the day-to-day running of a business.

“Having a partner that is able to support you in running these aspects of your business can sometimes be the difference between staying afloat or going under during tough economic times.”

The new membership category will be offered to industry nationwide for the first time, without the need to achieve the existing accreditation benchmark.

“That doesn’t mean we’ve lowered the bar for accreditation, it means that more businesses across Australia will get access to a highly regarded suite of membership benefits,” Richards said.

“These include technical support on the phone, HR and employment advice, and regular updates on industry news and regulatory changes. More importantly, businesses that choose to work towards gaining Accredited Master Electrician status would have access to all our support networks.

“With a new membership category, businesses can be assured of MEA’s support and assistance with industry issues through numerous channels, and the peace of mind in knowing that their business and employees are well looked after.”
