Australia’s top emerging tech companies were recently recognised at the annual Australian Technologies Competition showcase and awards event held in Sydney.

GreenSync, a high-growth technology company specialising in demand management solutions for the Australian and South East Asian electricity markets, edged out stiff competition to come out on top for the Energy Technology Award.

GreenSync has built a suite of complementary products that share the fundamental aim of better balancing electricity use across the grid to reduce network, customer and generation peaks.

Company founder and managing director Dr Phil Blythe said GreenSync’s advantage to energy users is they can now optimise their energy use by utilising all resources in their energy portfolios, whether they are storage, generation, renewable or curtailable loads.

“With cloud-based automation, GreenSync is fundamentally changing the way new technologies interface with the grid,” said Blythe.

The Australian Technologies Competition, now in its fifth year, is an emerging technology business accelerator program. Each year the competition receives hundreds of applicants for its eight-month development program, which culminates in recognising Australia’s best game-changing technology companies.

“The competition this year has been incredible,” said John O’Brien, competition organiser and managing director of Australian CleanTech.

“An excellent cross-section of Australian technology businesses comes together for this annual program, which is being increasingly recognised as a successful platform for developing and showcasing cutting-edge Australian technology companies and growing their global access.”
