Global electrotechnical experts to converge in Australia
The Australian National Committee of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), in conjunction with Standards Australia, will be hosting the 75th IEC General Meeting in October 2011. “The IEC General Meeting is the world’s pre-eminent gathering of electrotechnical experts and represents an excellent opportunity to showcase Australian innovation and technical expertise,” said Colin Blair, Chief Executive, Standards Australia.
The IEC General Meeting attracts over 1000 members and accompanying persons from 70 countries, said Blair. This year’s meeting is being held in Melbourne and will attract large numbers of experts in the area of equipment for explosive atmospheres, AV and multimedia equipment, fibre optics, electromagnetic compatibility and other areas of significance to Australian industry.
The 75th IEC GM will be held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre from 24-28 October 2011. Technical committee and subcommittee meetings will start on 19 October 2011 and continue until 31 October 2011. Industry representatives, academics, regulators and other major stakeholders will discuss technical and management issues and exchange ideas to help strengthen global cooperation among countries regarding electrical and electronic product Standards.
