Electricity Safety Week approaches
Electricity Safety Week 2019 is being held at a series of locations in Queensland on 2–6 September, with events tailored for industry leaders, electrical workers, contractors and apprentices. The event provides an opportunity to find out more about safety in the electrical industry.
Apprentice safety forums
Apprentice safety forums are aimed at apprentices and supervising tradespeople to help build the capabilities of apprentices to be safe at work. The forums will help supervisors give their apprentices the best support, training and mentoring.
Apprentice safety forums will be held at 6.30 am to 9 am in the following locations: Townsville (2 September); Mackay (3 September); Acacia Ridge (4 September); Bracken Ridge (5 September); and Gold Coast (6 September). View the full program here.
Registrations are open for limited places.
Electricity Safety Summit — Embedding safety culture
The Electricity Safety Summit will be held during Electricity Safety Week 2019. The summit will explore how to embed a strong safety culture in the workplace using the LEAD model — an evidence-based approach to measuring, understanding and improving safety culture.
Safety advocate Dan Kennedy will share the heartbreaking story of his son Dale’s death at just 20 years old. Dale was installing data cables in a roof space when he was electrocuted.
Case study presentations and a panel discussion will investigate how electrical industry leaders are improving safety culture and their bottom line.
