Electrical apprentices eligible for govt funding
Electricians are among the 75 high-priority occupations included in the federal government’s Australian Apprenticeships Priority List. For high-priority apprenticeships, employers can earn up to $6000 for full-time first- and second-year apprentices and up to $3000 for full-time third-year apprentices.
Employers of new or recommencing apprentices undertaking a Certificate III or higher qualification in a priority occupation will receive funding for 10% of wages for first- and second-year apprentices (up to $1500 per quarter or $6000 per year for full-time apprentices or trainees) and 5% of wages for third-year apprentices (up to $750 per quarter or $3000 per year for full-time apprentices or trainees).
The Australian Apprenticeships Priority List identifies priority occupations for the Australian Apprenticeships Incentive System, which commenced on 1 July 2022. These are occupations classified by the Australian Bureau of Statistics as either Technicians and Trades Workers or Community and Personal Service Workers.
