AVD wins CEDIA home automation installation awards
Home automation and integration company, AVD Australia, has recently won two awards in the CEDIA 2009 Awards: Best Project Design and Documentation and Best Integrated Home Installation over $300,000; as well as being highly commended in the Best Integrated Home Installation under $150,000 category.
AVD won both awards for its unique, state-of-the-art Energy-Efficient Residence, which was specifically designed to reduce power consumption and optimise efficiency. From conceptualisation and design, through to installation and commissioning, AVD provided a fully integrated and customised system.
The energy-efficient residence is built around a central atrium that spans five floors and features a motorised glass roof. The roof automatically opens and closes depending on external climatic conditions and internal temperature, while also allowing natural light to enter the building. Automated louvres located throughout the house are also adjustable.
In what was described as “the best example of entrants ever”, AVD Australia won among a highly competitive field in the two categories.
CEDIA Asia Pacific Executive Director Stephen Miller said: “This year, we doubled the number of entrants for the awards (82), which address 13 categories. AVD Australia is a worthy winner of these two awards, which were judged by a panel of Australian and overseas industry experts.
“It’s a great example of how this industry has matured over the years and what amazing skills our members contribute to custom electronic installations in the home. AVD Australia should be very proud of these awards and we wish it future success as it delivers exciting projects to its customers.”
