Australian Apprenticeship award

Powercor Australia was a recent Victorian winner of the "Minister's Awards for Excellence for Employers of Australian Apprentices'. The awards recognise employers who demonstrate commitment, innovation and outstanding achievement in the training of Australian apprentices. Australian Apprenticeships are an Australian government initiative.

Powercor distributes electricity across three regions in Victoria; and to service these regions, Powercor engages many apprentices, looking to employ people from the local region. Experienced mentors, meetings and reviews were part of the structured program for Powercor apprentices.

MEGT Australian Apprenticeships Centre was associated with Powercor in furnishing its electrical and related trades apprentices.

MEGT is involved in school-based apprenticeships to help young Australians step into a career while gaining credit for their years 11 and 12 studies; youth initiative programs promoting apprenticeships and traineeships to students; Year 12 work-experience placements to help students transition into careers; and supporting vocational training in schools.
