AGL head returns to chair CEC board

AGL head Michael Fraser has returned to the position of Chair of the Clean Energy Council (CEC) following its Annual General Meeting. CEO of Hydro Tasmania Roy Adair was returned as Deputy Chair.

CEC Chief Executive David Green welcomed Fraser’s return, saying the industry is fortunate to have a leader from one of the country’s oldest and largest companies as Chair at such a critical point in the development of clean energy in Australia.

“AGL is currently developing the largest wind farm and the largest solar farm in Australia and has been a strong advocate of policy stability for the bipartisan 20% Renewable Energy Target,” Green said.

“With the talents and skills that Roy Adair brings to the board we have a firm basis on which to take forward our work in the year ahead.”

Green also welcomed Jack Curtis, Vice President Business Development and Sales at First Solar, and Andrea Fontana, Australian Country Manager at FRV, to the CEC board.

“I would also like to welcome back Jeremy Schultz from Finlaysons, who was re-elected as a Director of the Clean Energy Council and will take on the role of Secretary,” Green added. “All of us particularly wanted to thank outgoing Greg Pritchard from Energy Developments Limited for the years he has devoted to improving the corporate governance of our organisation.”

Green also mentioned outgoing board members Rodger Meads of Conergy and Stephen Cook of Delta Energy Systems, saying their advice and presence on the board will be greatly missed.

Public support for clean energy is strong, Green said, and is matched by the commitment and vision of the CEC board.

“Together we can tackle the many challenges that we will need to meet in the years to come in order to reap the great economic and social opportunities for all Australians that clean energy can deliver,” Green said.
