Accreditation for Aust lighting businesses
The peak body for the Australian lighting industry, Lighting Council Australia (LCA), has launched an accreditation program geared at boosting the credentials of businesses throughout the sector.
The program covers six key skill areas: regulatory compliance; product safety and conformity; environmental responsibility; social responsibility; quality systems; and product stewardship.
LCA CEO Malcom Richards said the program would assist in the organisation’s mission to foster a high-quality, sustainable, environmentally and socially responsible lighting industry.
“As the peak lighting industry body, we are committed to providing businesses across the sector with the tools they need to take their operations to the next level. This landmark accreditation program is a giant step in that direction,” he said.
Richards added that the program had been expertly developed via consultation with industry, members and key stakeholders throughout the sector.
“Upon completion, a business is provided credentials showcasing a high degree of excellence, demonstrating that it has met rigorous benchmarks that distinguish it as an industry leader. This can be used in areas such as business marketing and other forms of industry engagement,” he explained.
“When a consumer sees that a business holds the status of an Accredited Lighting Council Member, they will know they are engaging with a business that operates at the highest standards and is committed to an industry code of best practice.”
Assessment for the program is undertaken online, with a Certificate of Accreditation issued upon successful completion. To achieve certification, the business must provide evidence of compliance across the six key areas.
Accreditation is maintained through compliance reporting and an annual audit, with a list of accredited members to be published on the Lighting Council Australia website.
