Engineers Australia and the Australian Constructors Association (ACA) have joined forces to conduct the 2015 Infrastructure Industry Leaders’ Forum in Melbourne on 14 May 2015.

The forum, to be held at the Melbourne Convention Centre, will feature Victorian Treasurer Tim Pallas as a keynote speaker. It will bring together leading Australian and international construction companies, engineers, industry professionals, financiers, lawyers and construction supply chain organisations to identify key issues that will assist governments to identify and deliver infrastructure projects.

Commenting on the forum, Stephen Durkin, Engineers Australia chief executive, said that the industry’s key players had decided to exercise a stronger voice in the development and delivery of infrastructure projects in the interests of creating and maintaining jobs and economic benefits across the sector and the economy in general.

Lindsay Le Compte, ACA executive director, said that the ACA was very pleased that the Victorian Treasurer had agreed to be a keynote speaker at the forum as the industry is keen to hear of the Victorian Government’s proposals to get the industry moving forward.

“The Victorian Treasurer will join a number of experts from across the industry who will lead discussion on key issues in the development, financing and delivery of infrastructure projects.

“The forum will feature presentations from experts on the current and future economic position of the industry in Victoria and nationally, financing and funding infrastructure projects, safety, sustainability, commercial and industrial issues and key factors that will assist governments to get projects up and running.”

The ACA and Engineers Australia had decided to invite industry leaders to the forum to ensure that their views on what works in the development and implementation of infrastructure projects was clearly pointed out to governments across the country to ensure the effective delivery of those projects and realisation of the flow-on benefits, Le Compte concluded.
