Sepam series 40 and 80 IEC 61850-compliant relays

Sepam protection relays are now IEC 61850 Level 2 compliant with direct ethernet connections. Based on the ethernet protocol, the IEC 61850 communication standard ensures high communication speeds and versatile communication architectures and interoperability between manufacturers.

The Sepam series 40 and Sepam series 80 relays fitted with the ACE850 communication interface provide a built-in solution for demanding IEC 61850 applications with IEC 61850 logical nodes and configurable data sets to fit the needs of a SCADA system. Peer-to-peer communication capabilities on Sepam series 80 with GOOSE messages enhance the user’s protection and control system without additional wiring, and the relays have up to six concurrent IEC 61850 connections.

The ACE850 has dual ethernet ports for redundancy in a star or ring connection, conforming to the RSTP 802.1d 2004 standard, and allows the user to have simultaneous Modbus TCP/IP and IEC 61850 communications in the same network.
