Liquid cooled drive

The Allen-Bradley PowerFlex 700L liquid-cooled drive delivers energy-efficient liquid cooling, allowing it to be installed in conditions where air-cooled drives can’t operate, such as dusty environments, or where increases in climate control costs would be excessive. Typical applications include HVAC and chillers, pumping applications and oil and gas industries.

The drive is available in power ranges from 150-860 kW and features a single cooling input and output to the IGBTs, so it doesn’t require a coolant line to each IGBT.

The simplified coolant system enables users to integrate the drive coolant supply with existing systems such as recycled plant water and to incorporate a water-to-air heat exchanger loop to the cooling line.

The drive also features regenerative energy capabilities where regenerated energy — commonly occurring in high-power applications such as presses and centrifuges — can be safely returned to the facility’s power system, boosting energy efficiency. Regenerative energy is actively modulated to avoid harmonic disturbances.

An active rectifier also provides the drive with the ability to boost and regulate its DC bus voltage, minimising the effects of input voltage disturbances and power line dips — helping to protect sensitive processes.
