GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms has released the Neternity RM921, a family of layer 2/3+ managed ethernet embedded switches with full IPv6 wire speed switching and routing and featuring OpenWare switch management.

Designed for a wide range of networking and switching applications, the device facilitates communications within a chassis as well as supporting the network outside the chassis.

It supports 12 or 24 ports routed through front I/O and multiple copper/fibre combinations. With the single slot 12-port, the baseboard supports 12 GbE ports or a hybrid of gigabit ethernet and 100BaseFX ports. With dual slot, the combined baseboard and expansion board supports a total of 24 GbE ports or a hybrid of gigabit ethernet and 100BaseFX ports.

The switch delivers full wire-speed gigabit ethernet switching that can be fully managed and deployed. Based on a PowerPC management processor and switch fabric, it has integrated layer 2/3 switching capabilities as well as the ability to support higher layer 4-7.
