Bosch VIP X1600 XF series of IP video encoder modules

Wednesday, 16 December, 2009 | Supplied by: Bosch Security Systems Pty Ltd

The VIP X1600 XF series of IP video encoder modules is designed to meet the increasing demand for better images with less demand on network and storage resources, in combination with ‘intelligence at the edge’, where video analysis is pushed to the edge of a network to save system resources.

The modules deliver high-resolution H.264 video with reduced bandwidth, thereby reducing storage by a claimed 30% over traditional MPEG-4 encoding.

Two H.264 IP video streams are delivered per camera input at a full frame rate of 25 images (PAL) or 30 images (NTSC) per second at up to 4CiF resolution on every video channel. A JPEG stream can also be provided for each camera.

Audio is supported on both modules and one module supports the Bilinx up-the-coax communication protocol, which enables camera PTZ control, reducing cabling.

Embedded video content analysis software enables autonomous detection of suspicious behaviour, including loitering, idle objects, object removal and line crossing. A motion vector algorithm detects scene activity by the absolute movement of pixels in the scene instead of movement against a learned background, enabling cameras to be deployed in continuously moving scenes like escalators, roads and crowds.
