Work safe. Home safe.

Safe Work Australia

Friday, 12 September, 2014

With Safe Work Australia Month nearly upon us, employers and workers across Australia are being encouraged to download a free 2014 Safety Month app, released by Safe Work Australia (SWA).

The theme this year is ‘Work safe. Home safe.’, which the body’s acting CEO, Michelle Baxter, says “is a reminder that the most important reason for staying healthy and safe at work is not work at all”.

She recommends attending one of the many events being hosted by work health and safety authorities, industry groups and unions, or participating in SWA’s online events, developed as part of the Australian Strategy Virtual Seminar Series (VSS).

Throughout October, the VSS event will showcase the latest thinking, developments and research in WHS from a range of experts, business leaders and regulators. The app provides details of all VSS events, as well as the ability to watch and take part directly from your mobile device.

Additional features include access to a range of health and safety stats and facts, as well as the ability to nominate a Safety Ambassador from your workplace. Safety Ambassadors have exclusive access to online resources and any workplace with a registered 2014 Safety Ambassador is eligible to enter the Safety Month Workplace Participation Reward. The reward will be awarded to one organisation for outstanding participation in safety month.

To download the 2014 Safety Month app, visit the Apple App store or Google Play and search for ‘Safe Work Australia Safety Month’. If you have the 2013 version of the app, you can go to the app store and install an update.
