Schneider Electric named as a world changer
Schneider Electric has been recognised by Fortune Magazine in its 2016 Change the World list. The ranking highlights companies addressing global social problems as part of their core business strategy and integrating societal needs into their corporate strategy. Globally, the list recognises companies making intentional efforts to prove that profit motive can be harnessed to alleviate some of the world’s most persistent social ills.
Schneider Electric was included thanks to its Access to Energy program, which brings electricity to communities without power and trains local workers to ensure sustainability. The company’s off-grid solar backup solution powering 128 Kenyan schools, and its training initiatives in energy management in Africa, Asia and South America for disadvantaged youths, were also highlighted.
Schneider Electric aims to ensure global access to safe, reliable, efficient and sustainable energy and says it remains committed to providing innovative solutions that address the energy paradox: balancing our planet’s carbon footprint with the irrefutable human right to quality energy.
