Pacnet has announced the completion of the expansion of its Sydney data centre to meet increasing enterprise demand for high-density co-location and cloud services in Australia.

Located in the central business district of Sydney at Liverpool Street, the second phase of the Pacnet Sydney data centre delivers 1295 m2 of gross tier III data centre space, and adds an additional 350 racks and 3 mW of total power to the facility.

“Through this expanded facility, Pacnet continues to strategically invest and grow its data centre footprint in Asia Pacific to address the high-power, high-performance and high-efficiency needs of global enterprises looking to deploy cloud applications and multi-site projects,” said Jim Fagan, President of Managed Services, Pacnet.

“For those companies viewing Asia as an opportunity for business expansion, our Sydney Data Centre offers a gateway for data and cloud computing resources through our ability to interlink our clients though to our other 27 centres in the region, including China,” said Nigel Stitt, Vice President and CEO of Pacnet Australia and New Zealand.

Pacnet is also an approved supplier on the datacentre-as-a-service (DCaaS) multi-use list (MUL), which allows government agencies like the Department of Finance and Treasury to procure cloud and cloud-like services more easily.
