ecopoint becomes the first NZ company to receive the IC-F rating

Monday, 03 September, 2012

ecopoint’s small panel lighting range has been awarded the IC-F rating by International Accreditation New Zealand (IANZ), New Zealand’s premier accreditation body. ecopoint is the first company in New Zealand to receive the IC-F rating.

The highest classification in its category, the IC-F rating means that building insulation can safely and continuously be exposed to a temperature of 90°C and is permitted to abut and cover the luminaire. In effect, this means that insulation can lay right on top of the light fitting. To qualify for the IC-F rating, ecopoint’s ecoLED panel lights were subject to a number of rigorous independent tests relating to the degree of contact that is allowed between the panel lights, the light fitting and the surrounding building insulation.

“We are thrilled to have received this certification and are extremely proud to be the first LED light in the market to achieve this,” said Paul Wilton, ecopoint Director. “While these panels have many different applications, we believe the IC-F certification will make this product increasingly popular in the domestic market. This certification means that installation is truly a breeze and installing ecoLED panel lights will not interfere with the effectiveness of a home’s insulation.”

The ecopoint ecoLED panel light is an eco-friendly alternative to a traditional downlight and can be used in a variety of settings, from offices to homes. According to ecopoint, it’s the only light of its kind with the IC-F rating. Lights that do not have the IC-F rating must maintain a minimum 100 mm clearance, making them less effective in preventing heat loss - one of the main problems associated with traditional downlights.
