BICSI 2011 conference to focus on data centre design and broadband

Wednesday, 02 February, 2011

The BICSI South Pacific Conference 2011 heads to Brisbane, where it is expected 350 key delegates from home and abroad will gather at the Sebel and Citigate Hotel on 4-6 April.

Now in its 12th year, the conference will focus on major trends and challenges within the Information Technology Systems (ITS) industry, with presentations including panel discussions, lectures, case studies and hands-on sessions by some of the best presenters in the industry.

“I’m confident this year’s conference attendees will be able to use the knowledge and information they glean from this event immediately, in their daily activities within the ITS industry,” says BICSI South Pacific Managing Director Margarite D’Cruz. “It’s our first time back in Brisbane for more than five years, so we’re hoping to attract a few more of our northern members, too.”

The three-day event will begin with the traditional ‘Industry Day Monday’, which will focus on the topics of Data Centre Design and Broadband. This day will comprise presentations, discussions and debates, selected workshops and product demonstrations, along with a number of exhibitors showcasing the latest products and technologies.

“I would encourage businesses to send along their staff, clients and customers throughout the day to participate in these seminars and attend the exhibition,” says D’Cruz. “The BICSI 2011 Welcome Cocktail Party held at the end of the first day also offers a great opportunity for networking and mingling with other individuals in the industry.”

The following two days will follow a conference format, devoted entirely to dynamic presentations and real-world case studies - a must for all those in the ITS industry to keep up to date with the latest technology and cutting-edge trends.

Keynote speakers have been drawn from all corners of the communications and networking industries including end users, project management, commercial construction, information transport infrastructure, telcos, commercial fire, security protection and regulators.

This year, BICSI South Pacific will introduce a new range of awards specifically aimed at demonstrating the experience, knowledge and professionalism of its RCDDs in the following categories:

  • Infrastructure;
  • Technology; and
  • Design.

“A highlight at this year’s conference will be the BICSI South Pacific ‘Punch Off’ competition - a two-man team event where entrants have an hour to complete a common installation task,” adds D’Cruz.
