Technology on show in regional Queensland

Wednesday, 22 October, 2008

Westwick-Farrow Events delivered the fourth series of its Industrial Technology Regional Roadshow in north Queensland in September, visiting Gladstone, Mackay, Townsville and Mt Isa.

The Industrial Technology Regional Roadshow team, including technical training partner IDC Technologies, has gained a reputation for delivering a highly beneficial day of training workshops, exhibition and networking for those in the fields of industrial automation, instrumentation, electrical and process technologies. The roadshow is supported by Engineers Australia and those attending the training workshops are entitled to accrue valuable CPD training points.

The event is designed to bring local professionals in regional Australia up to date on the latest developments through presentations from industry experts, technical workshops and an exhibition of the latest products from leading vendors. Topics covered by the workshop included industrial data communications, electric arc flash protection, lightning and surge protection, and PID loop tuning.

The roadshow was attended by plant managers, process engineers, project managers, maintenance engineers, safety managers, systems integrators, operations managers, systems engineers, service managers, mine management, automation specialists and general engineering staff from companies including O’Donnell Griffin, Connell Wagner, Orica, Queensland Alumina, Mackay Sugar, Citiwater, BHP Billiton, Hatch Associates, Ergon Energy, Pybar Mining, CSR Sugar, Xstrata and regional councils.

The Industrial Technology Regional Roadshow will next be travelling to Western Australia in March 2009 — visiting Bunbury, Rockingham, Kalgoorlie and Karratha — and will again return to North Queensland in September 2009.

The program was provided free to qualified industry personnel, thanks to the event sponsors: Alloy Computers, Eaton Electric Systems, Endress+Hauser, Emerson Process Management, Fluke Australia, Global Safety Solutions and Management, George Fischer, Krohne, MIPAC Engineering, Phoenix Contact, Pilz, Rittal, Siemens, SWR Engineering, Treotham Automation, Tyco Flow Control, Wonderware and Weidmüller.
