Are you prepared for an online security threat?
Understanding the myriad challenges that security threats pose in the digital age will be up front and centre at the Security Exhibition and Conference, to be held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre from 15-17 July.
Leading experts will be challenging the readiness of the Australian security industry for a host of threats, both online and physical, during the three-day event.
“With security companies facing a multitude of threats from on- and offline sources, security managers must not only be able to understand the changing risk environment but also how to effectively communicate during critical incidents,” said Nicole Matejic, NATO and federal government adviser.
Matejic is one of the featured speakers during the conference program, hosted by ASIAL, and will demonstrate in her session on Thursday 16 July how information warfare, especially on social media, is being used to influence and motivate target audiences around the world. Matejic will explain how this is not just the military’s problem, but an important issue for the Australian security industry.
“When you’re on social media, what you say is just as important as when and where you say it. Security managers need to realise that the conversation will be happening with or without them online during critical incidents and crises.”
Other leading experts for the ASIAL two-day paid conference program for security end users include Senetas Chief Technology Officer Julian Fay, who will discuss ‘Cyber-threat to cyber-terrorism-essential practices in an insecure world’, and SNP Security General Manager Craig Millar, who will discuss ‘Managing risk and delivering security in the digital age’.
