Gas Alarm Systems VEFSA (very early fire detection and safety alarm)

Tuesday, 31 August, 2010 | Supplied by: Gas Alarm Systems

VEFSA (very early fire detection and safety alarm) is designed to detect mixed gases generated due to electrical overload, electrical short-circuit or overheating in power station substations, electrical panels, data centres and telecom rooms, including UPS battery rooms.

VEFSA senses gas radicals that are the very early signs of potential fires in these environments and then sends out a 4-20 mA signal that can be used for alarms or to quickly shut down the mains. These units are claimed to be faster in sensing imminent fires than air-aspirated laser types of early smoke detection systems or smoke sensors because they rely on sensing smoke (visible or non-visible), which is normally generated, and consequently detected, later than gas radicals.

The system is available in either a wall-mount version or as a duct-mount kit for return-air-duct installation.
