The F2C-ARI enables automatic reclosing of a residual current device (RCD) in case of nuisance tripping, eg, after an overvoltage created by lightning, making it particularly suitable for use in unmanned control panels in applications such as communications repeater stations, traffic and signalling control, pumping and irrigation stations, refrigeration and public lighting.
The device is two modules wide and is fitted to the right side of an ABB RCD. It will automatically perform three reclosing attempts in the event of a fault. If the RCD trips again after three attempts to reclose, the device goes to a locked state and provides a signal contact for warning purposes. It can be reset either locally or remotely (up to 1500 m away) after being locked. After resetting, it is ready for a further three reclosing attempts.
A multi-colour LED of the front shows the state of the recloser. Auxiliary contacts are also provided to indicate the ‘on’ or ‘off’ state of the RCD. For additional safety, the device incorporates a padlocking facility for tag-out procedures on the protected load.
