ViSCO Super Focusing Camera

ViSCO Technologies Corporation has launched the Super Focusing Camera, which the company claims solves angled image acquisition problems and maximises auto inspection advantages.

When inspecting a target from an angle, inspection with human eyes has advantages such as high visibility, clear contrast and seeing multiple sides easily and simultaneously. However, a camera’s angled image acquisition causes a perspective and the whole image may not be focused.

ViSCO claims its camera solves these problems. While maintaining the advantages of human eye inspection, it benefits from auto inspection’s speed and accuracy, making inspection that was previously difficult for automation feasible.

The Super Focusing Camera is claimed to offer higher defect visibility than other cameras. Regular reflection light casts shadows of defects such as scratches or unevenness, which gives a sharper contrast to make defect detection easier.

Angled image acquisition enables inspection on multiple sides at once; connector pins can be seen without overlap so one image acquisition is enough for the whole inspection. ViSCO says this improves inspection speed and reduces cost. In addition, the camera does not need to be installed directly above the target, so equipment design flexibility is improved.

The camera can be used for connector pin tip detection, detecting connector mating part gap, checking robot alignment, plus a range of other applications.
