Schneider Electric has launched PlantStruxure at its user conference on the Gold Coast. The process automation technology allows industrial and infrastructure companies to transparently connect field, process and enterprise levels within their business - creating time, decreasing cost and driving energy efficiencies.

PlantStruxure is a key building block of Schneider Electric’s comprehensive energy management portfolio, EcoStruxure, focused on the process automation domain. EcoStruxure connects five domains of business expertise - power, data centres, process and machines, building control and physical security - within an open and flexible technology architecture that delivers up to 30% savings in energy efficiency.

“PlantStruxure is the glue that binds the plant together by connecting hardware, software and ethernet-based architecture,” said Alison Koh, Solutions Marketing Manager, Industry Business, Schneider Electric.

“We know our industrial customers are facing tough challenges like improving safety, meeting regulatory requirements and reducing waste and their environmental footprint. PlantStruxure helps customers not only increase plant productivity and optimise maintenance, but also improve time to market for new plants,” Koh said.

The PlantStruxure system is based on tested, validated and documented architectures for process and energy management, and offers complete solutions from field to enterprise:

  • Energy management solutions help to achieve a whole new level of energy optimisation, from device level right through to enterprise level.
  • Operating and monitoring solutions enable customers to prioritise, act and operate their processes more efficiently.
  • High-availability solutions offer the flexibility to choose the level of availability at all levels of the architecture, including operator stations, data servers, controllers and networks.
  • Safety process solutions ensure that the process is safe and efficient while also meeting safety best practices as defined in the IEC 61511 standard.
  • Networking solutions, based on ethernet, allow transparent communication among field, process, plant and enterprise. Network technologies and web services ensure the efficient sharing and distribution of information between sensors, instrumentation, devices, controllers, operator work stations and other third-party systems.
  • Modernisation solutions to migrate to PlantStruxure are easy and customisable.
