Safety recall Quicklag ELQ earth leakage circuit breaker

Thursday, 09 March, 2017

Eaton Industries has issued a safety recall on the Quicklag ELQ earth leakage circuit breaker range for products supplied nationally between 1 April 2004 and 15 December 2016.

The company says a non-compliant material has been used in the manufacture of a component. When operating under short circuit conditions the product may express ionised gases through the exhaust port, which may result in conditions creating a fire risk.

Customers should check switchboards or loadcentres for potential affected RCBOs, which can be identified by the presence of a green test button. Products without a test button, or with a white or orange test button, are not impacted. This How to Identify guide provides more information.

The affected products include the following:

Current rating 30 mA 1 pole 10 mA 1 pole 100 mA 1 pole 20 mA 2 pole
10 A ELQ110C3TW ELQ110C1TW ELQ110C10TW ELQ216C3TW
16 A ELQ116C3TW ELQ116C1TW ELQ116C10TW ELQ216C3TW
20 A ELQ120C3TW ELQ120C1TW ELQ120C10TW ELQ220C3TW
25 A ELQ125C3TW ELQ125C1TW ELQ125C10TW ELQ225C3TW
32 A ELQ132C3TW ELQ132C1TW ELQ132C10TW ELQ232C3TW

The product features a serial number on the side, from which the date of manufacture can be determined.

If your RCBO is an affected model, contact Eaton using the appropriate registration claim available for download using the link above. If your RCBO is a recalled product, Eaton will arrange for a replacement RCBO to be installed on-site at no charge.

For more information about the recall, end users and electrical contractors can contact Eaton on 1800 870 851. The full recall notice is available here.
